Helping with the hay harvest in Ystrad Meurig, Ceredigion in 1953. Dinah Evans stands on hay-cart with her husband John Evans standing on her left. They farmed Maesbanhadlog Farm, Ystrad Meurig and are seen here helping their neighbours (standing in front) – Mary and William Hughes, Tynbanadl with the hay. They had a smallholding and kept a cow in the cowshed tied to their longhouse. The children are Gwyneth, Maesbanhadlog and Mary Anne, Mary Hughes’ grand-daughter. Florrie, Mary Anne’s mother, lived in London and the mother and daughter came down on their summer holidays to Tynbanadl. They slept in the hay-loft. The picture was taken by Florrie.
