AMC/WAW Statement, May 2018

When you request information from AMC/WAW, take out membership, attend a conference or other event, AMC/WAW may ask you to provide information about yourself. This statement explains how we look after that information and what we do with it.

We have a legal duty under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation to prevent your personal information falling into the wrong hands. We must also do all that we can to ensure that the data we hold about you is accurate, adequate, relevant, not excessive and is only retained for as long as is necessary during your membership of the organisation.

AMC/WAW employ Waters (https://www.waters-creative.co.uk/) to manage our website and through it, our membership. We require such third parties to whom we transfer your data to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law. We only allow such third parties to process your personal data for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions.

We collect and process various data from our website, such as:

a) forms filled out on our website allow us to collect information about you to receive the information you've requested

b) any data collected from communications to us from you, for any reason

This collection of data is used for statistical analysis about our website for use by us. Any information shared will not include any personal details and will not identify who you are, but will be included in data about our visitors and their use of our site.


AMC/WAW will only collect information that is needed for a specific purpose e.g. to maintain an up-to-date register of members. Data will be kept securely and access will be limited to certain AMC/WAW post­holders and Waters, employed by AMC/WAW to manage the AMC/WAW website (see above).   

Members and others who have contacted AMC/WAW and provided personal data have the right to obtain a copy of all of the information that we hold about you.
